Evolution: Teaching & Learning

Exercise books and stationaries are the first tools of learning which connects the teachings from teachers to students. Every individual in this world are familiar with this learning tools from kindergarten. These traditions were practiced from school to higher level of education as Philosophy Doctrine, PhD stage until early millennium years (year 2000 onwards).  This is when the establishment and encouragement of government upon Internet starts to take place. 

The biggest breakthrough about the Internet is the e-mail service. Where people don’t have to meet people to start conversations and don’t have to queue to buy stamps to post letters. Messages can be sent to 1000 miles away by just clicking ‘send’ button. From sending e-mail on desktop computers, to sending information or conversation through instant messaging application on smartphone, this is a really huge step for mankind had ever invented. Where it does revolutionize the teaching and learning totally.

A student can apply for their bachelor degree on-line and he or she can learn their subjects with their teacher through on-line learning. Do our late generation have think or foreseen this system would happen? No. For them it is impossible during at that time. That is why Internet can be called as a ‘one huge step’ for mankind, as important as space mission on the moon.

But can we predict what sort of evolution will happen towards our academic institution within 20 – 50 years time? The answer is no. People have no clue what kind evolution will take place to the teaching and learning method within 20 – 50 years from now. Internet is one thing, while technology will also play some crucial role in this scenario. If we could achieve this far in less than 20 years, than it is unimaginable for us what will happen next. What we only know, the researchers and technology developers will always find a way to make our life easier, from time to time.

A teacher is not only a teacher and a student is not only a student. These teacher and student also have their responsibility towards the society and family, as a parent, friends and other commitment towards the community. Somehow, if anything happens or sudden changes occur in the future, the Internet and technology will assist this situation accordingly. From here we can think that the contribution of Internet and technology have their significant role in our daily world.

We have no clue of what kind of evolution that Internet and technology will brought us, but lets just hope that, it will make teaching and learning more efficient, fun and full with excitement.

LENOVO Smartphones: Emerging Malaysian Markets

Our local markets are hype with smartphones ever since Apple Inc. created the latent demand on their first iPhone, where it has totally changed the world’s perspective on mobile communication forever.  Few years after that, Samsung smartphones dominate the Android user markets and leaving iPhones to it’s unique customers. While Samsung building their reputation throughout pricing, functionality and other built-in components, early 2014, Lenovo made a breakthrough in the mobile smartphones industry.

            What’s really brought their smartphones into the limelight is, their strategy to enter our local market. First and foremost, is their product pricing. This is huge point where consumers can get a good smartphones, as good as Samsung smartphones at a lower price. In terms of operating system (OS), both are using Android OS, except for iPhone. Well, they also providing higher specs at a higher price, but still, it is cheaper than Samsung smartphones.

            Somewhere, in the mid of 2014, we can see almost all of our friends and relatives, switching their smartphones to Lenovo brand. This is good for consumers’ perspectives, because everybody can afford for smartphone technology. It is a good sign for low or middle-income consumers where Lenovo somehow made the device affordable.

            From market analysis view, Lenovo are pursuing higher market share rather than profits. It is on of good ways to gain higher trust from consumers since they also have other product lines, such as laptop, notebook and other electronic products. This scenario also happened towards Samsung at the beginning of their entrance. Where iPhone strategy is targeting high-end consumers from then till now. When Samsung enters the market, people thoughts on having a smartphone also changed and they gain their popularity and fame from there.

For Android OS base device, Samsung are not only facing Lenovo as their competitors. Acer also have made their smartphones, Huawei also competing in the markets and now, we can see that OPPO smartphones are investing really huge sums of money on marketing in order to let consumers aware of their existence. We can see that smartphone products markets already growing and competing among of themselves.

To sums up this whole point of view, will Lenovo remain this stage for a long period to be the no.1 choice in terms of affordability? Or will they change their current strategy when they already gain their market share worldwide. Of course we cannot answer it by one-day judgment, it is a continuous observations as markets fluctuates from time to time. Who knew that some other brand might come up with a new interactive marketing strategy?  Or maybe, there will be a corporation that can create a new latent demand on device which is more powerful than existing smartphones technology?  However, I would like to thank Lenovo for making smartphone affordable. Mac OSX vs Windows OS: Which one?

If you have to choose, either Windows Operating System computer or Mac (OSX) Operating System computer, which one will you choose? This is not a new issue in our today society, as a matter of fact; it was already being discussed for centuries.  Well for me, the answer varies on individuals. Some might look at a different lens. Some will judge by the history of the operating system, some will make evaluation on price and lots of other reasons, it will never ends.

For me, the good way to look at these available choices is to reflect our main routine usage on this technology. This also reflects directly on our professions. It varies. For government office or workplace, Windows Operating System (OS) is already equipped and synonym with our daily work. From preparing crucial documents to file management. Thus, it is a consumer friendly OS, from workplace to our social lifestyle.

What about Mac OSX? Well, lots of professional producers, artists and other professional professions tend to use Mac OSX rather than Windows OS. There are many reasons that are known and unknown, but some of the reasons have been floating around in our society.

The first reason is the computer viruses. This reason was already popular since the 90’s for windows OS.  Why viruses are synonym for windows OS? This is because the windows OS still remains as the most used operating systems till today, almost everywhere.  There is a huge speculation about computer viruses with anti-virus software company. Rumors been discussed that the anti-virus company creates the computer virus and prepares the solutions at the same time for profit making. It is unofficial and yet to be known whether it is a fact or not.

Then, does the situation makes Mac OSX not affected by computer viruses? The answer for this: No! Once a consumer goes online, there is thousands of spam and viruses based on OS. Note that windows OS viruses would not affect Mac OSX, because of the system difference. Mac OSX still can be exposed to computer viruses. On the other hand, on mid 2012, since Mac OSX does not equipped with PowerPC, young and middle age society would choose Windows OS for gaming.

Gaming industries are still built for windows OS to this day, which leaving Mac OSX behind for gaming. This is because, hardware for desktop computers are replaceable and can be modified, this will give advantage for gamers to equipped their desktop computers with the latest technology as to date. While Mac OSX computer are not compatible to changes and not built for customizations on certain major parts.

What about software? This is where the professional professions must be taken into account. Most of professional or tools are built in the Mac OSX, like Logic Pro X software for music producers, Final Cut Pro software for Movie Directors, Adobe software for Graphic Designers and many more.

These are only some of the reasons being mentioned as there are many more. But, as a smart consumer, view them on your profession and lifestyle. For additional example, Web-Developer tend to choose u-Buntu or Linux operating system as it is not complicated as other OS and it is more stable for their work platform. If your mind is full of inquiries and doubts upon certain matters on operating system, do not hesitate to go to the nearest computer store to seek answers and advice. Your research will lead you to the answer that you are looking for.
