Evolution: Teaching & Learning

Exercise books and stationaries are the first tools of learning which connects the teachings from teachers to students. Every individual in this world are familiar with this learning tools from kindergarten. These traditions were practiced from school to higher level of education as Philosophy Doctrine, PhD stage until early millennium years (year 2000 onwards).  This is when the establishment and encouragement of government upon Internet starts to take place. 

The biggest breakthrough about the Internet is the e-mail service. Where people don’t have to meet people to start conversations and don’t have to queue to buy stamps to post letters. Messages can be sent to 1000 miles away by just clicking ‘send’ button. From sending e-mail on desktop computers, to sending information or conversation through instant messaging application on smartphone, this is a really huge step for mankind had ever invented. Where it does revolutionize the teaching and learning totally.

A student can apply for their bachelor degree on-line and he or she can learn their subjects with their teacher through on-line learning. Do our late generation have think or foreseen this system would happen? No. For them it is impossible during at that time. That is why Internet can be called as a ‘one huge step’ for mankind, as important as space mission on the moon.

But can we predict what sort of evolution will happen towards our academic institution within 20 – 50 years time? The answer is no. People have no clue what kind evolution will take place to the teaching and learning method within 20 – 50 years from now. Internet is one thing, while technology will also play some crucial role in this scenario. If we could achieve this far in less than 20 years, than it is unimaginable for us what will happen next. What we only know, the researchers and technology developers will always find a way to make our life easier, from time to time.

A teacher is not only a teacher and a student is not only a student. These teacher and student also have their responsibility towards the society and family, as a parent, friends and other commitment towards the community. Somehow, if anything happens or sudden changes occur in the future, the Internet and technology will assist this situation accordingly. From here we can think that the contribution of Internet and technology have their significant role in our daily world.

We have no clue of what kind of evolution that Internet and technology will brought us, but lets just hope that, it will make teaching and learning more efficient, fun and full with excitement.
